Week 76

So as of yesterday, I have 6 months left! I'm excited, especially because when I get home the Diaz family is getting sealed! But at the same time, it sucks because that means I only have 6 months left. I still have a lot to learn and to put in to practice.

So on Tuesday I went on exchanges with Elder Delgado, we went to Benecia. Here's the clincher- we biked to Benicia. It might not sound to hard, except for biking to Benicia requires biking up the biggest hill in Northern California. That might be an exaggeration, but it was big. Like, really big. It takes 90 minutes to bike there. You can call me Lance Armstrong. While we were there, we taught this less active from Guatamala, and after we just did finding. Benecia is mostly white people with a few black people. And like 10 spanish people in the whole city. So it might not have been the most effective exchange, but it was fun! We found these guys who ran out of gas and pushed them to a gas station. One of the guys has a girlfriend who is a member and said he wanted to start learning. He is from Oakland, so hopefully something good happens!

On wednesday we had a super cool experience. We were out pros walking and I felt like we should go visit this potential and so we start walking towards him, and we saw this lady on her porch. We had talked to other people that lived in the house, but not the lady on the porch. So she comes out and starts talking to us, and we give like a little brief introduction to the Restoration, and she's like "hey, come up onto the porch, I wanna learn more!" And so as we're teaching the Savior's earthly ministry and then the atonement, her eyes were all wide and she was just taking it all in. Like a sponge and she's all like "yeah, that makes sense! So the true church was lost." and then we start talking about Joseph Smith and he eyes light up and she's all "why doesn't anyone know this? It makes perfect sense! Why have I never heard this before???" So basically she accepted the baptismal invitation, and started reading the Book of Mormon as soon as we left. It was super cool just being in the right place at the right time. We passed them off to the English Elders who cover that area.

On Saturday, we had this really cool experience where we had free church tours and hot dogs. Elder Ford and I gave the tour of the chapel, like where we do Sacrament Meeting. It was way cool, we had a ton of people tell us they were going to come and a lot of them came on Sunday! It was all to english people, but we're doing it again in two weeks with a focus on Spanish people. We're excited!!!

Adrian and Jackie came to all of church! We called them at 8, 8:15, 8:30, and 8:45 to make sure they were up. Church starts at 9:30, but at like 9:45 they texted us and they were out there and it was super awesome! They loved it, he especially loved the Priesthood class about how the Father is a Patriarch of the home. Presidente Tobias taught the class, and I learned a ton. Just a lot about making decisions together with the wife, planning, and guiding a home versus... ok well I can't think of exact translations, dirigiendo vs mandando el hogar. Like about how a mountain guide works. He doesn't just say "ok, go up the hill, take a left at the big tree" but instead he is leading the group, he is out there climbing with them and it really made a pretty big impact on me!

So I love the branch here. I feel like Ammon in Alma 17:30. They are my friends and brothers.

I love you guys! Have a great week!
